How to Naturally Tie Dye with Turmeric (DIY)

In this video I show you how you can reduce waste by recycling your old stained white t-shirts by naturally tie dyeing them with turmeric. This DIY guide is so easy that anyone can do it and not only will you be shocked with the results, you will want to experiment with other natural foods too. Turmeric works extremely well as a natural dye and using this technique will make you live a more sustainable life.

The step by step process is simple. You can use elastic bands to give a tie dye pattern or you can leave them out for a more block colour look. Submerge your item of clothing into hot salty water for 1 hour, meanwhile cook up some turmeric and water in a saucepan. After the hour put the t-shirt into the turmeric water and cook on a low heat for an additional hour, then turn the heat off and soak overnight. In the morning, remove the top from the turmeric, rinse in the sink and then wash solo in the washing machine. Once cleaned, dry it and it will be ready to wear.
