-And here is the last great moment of the Yankee dynasty that began in 1947 and ended in 1964 as Mickey Mantle sets a World Series record with a walk-off home run to beat the Cardinals in Game 3 of the World Series.
-This game, while from NBC Radio was recorded from WCBS, the Yankees regular station. The rule then was that the national broadcast could air on both the NBC station and the local team station, so that's why in this era the same World Series broadcast could be heard on both WNBC (as was the case with the Game 2 recording) and WCBS. Curt Gowdy and Harry Caray, who did the TV games in St. Louis rotated to radio for the games in New York and so they are heard on this broadcast as Joe Garagiola and Phil Rizzuto were doing TV in New York (I suspect the powers that be didn't want to have Caray and Rizzuto sharing the same booth!).
