We continue with our part 2 of 2 retrospective on Mitzi Gaynor Specials on NBC, beginning in 1968 with 'Mitzi', followed by her 1969 special, 'Mitzi's Second Special.'
The key to these many specials over the years was to let Mitzi to be Mitzi, and that was always very special and high impact. This video clip from the outstanding DVD: Mitzi Gaynor - Razzle Dazzle, highlights the path Ms. Gaynor took from movies and nightclubs/Vegas to television during the 1960s.
The first three Mitzi specials (1967, 1968, 1969) were broadcast on NBC. Then in 1973, CBS asked Mitzi to continue her specials, and she did throughout the rest of the decade, most often on Monday nights at 10pm. Here specials were also 'an event' and really brought Las Vegas glitter and glamour into family living rooms across America during the decade.
