Описание: You wanted to know what can cause white spots on tonsils and swollen tonsils. And usually the most obvious explanation is tonsillitis or strep throat, but there are other causes like mononucleosis, a yeast infection in the back of the throat (or it's called oral thrush) and it can start to move down the throat. Herpes viruses can cause this as well (people who get cold sores) - it's rare, but it can travel down through their throat. Another possibility is tonsil stones - they look white, and they just sit on the tonsils. Those are all possibilities, but if you have a sore throat or you have other signs of illness, like a fever, or you have more concerns about it, talk with your doctor. They'll perform an exam and then decide if you need treatment. If you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at / intermountainmoms , and recommend us to your friends and family too.
