Sun Valley Bald Mountain Ski Resort Video Tour

Описание: Sun Valley Ski Resort in Ketchum, Idaho is North America's first destination ski resort. It opened in 1936 by the Union Pacific Railroad. The railroad hired Austrian skier Count Felix Schaffgotsch to locate the best place for a destination ski resort in North America. After extensive travels through the western United States, the Count was directed to Ketchum, Idaho. Ketchum was an old mining town on a Union Pacific spur line in the Wood River Valley. It sat amidst the remote mountains of central Idaho. Schaffgotsch remarked, “This contains more delightful features than any other place I have seen in the U.S., Switzerland, or Austria for a winter sports center.” Since 1977, the R Earl Holding Company has owned Sun Valley Ski Resort, and they have owned Snowbasin ski resort in Utah since 1984. Both Sun Valley and Snowbasin feature expansive and fancy lodges! Snowbasin hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic Downhill races and received many upgrades for the Olympics. In late March, 2025, Sun Valley is hosting the Audi FIS World Cup Finals for downhill ski racing.

Join us for this video tour of Sun Valley's Bald Mountain Ski resort. We show all the primary lifts, the terrain they serve, and the scenery! Our hope is our videos will show you enough of the ski resort so you can conduct your own ski resort review, and decide if it's worth it to you to visit based on your preference of available lifts, terrain, and scenery. We skied Sun Valley using the IKON pass, but they are also members of the Mountain Collective Pass. We stayed at the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge Hotel which was the least expensive option when we visited. Our favorite restaurant was the Pioneer Saloon, but we also enjoyed the Sawtooth Brewery.
