China Talk is a series of webinars featuring different scholars to offer insight into different aspects of China to better understand the country as a whole.
This webinar tries to give the audience a sketch of the Chinese history with the emphasis on the important turns in its historical development, for example, how China became a united nation in the first place, how China once functioned as a major international communication hub and how China was left behind and then invaded by different nations. These historical turns set the premise for China’s development in the following time and shaped its culture most profoundly. The most important ideas and concepts in Chinese culture are also discussed in the course to give the audience a well-rounded picture of the interaction between Chinese history and its cultural development. With the above information, one may better understand China’s behavior in the international community.
