The 800 yr-old Lavaux Vineyards lie between Lausanne and Vevey-Montreux _on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Locals say that there are three suns at work in the vineyards of Lavaux: the actual sun; its reflection on the lake; and the stones that trap its heat and keep the vines warm at night.

Lavaux is listed by UNESCO as a "cultural landscape", recognising the combined work between man and nature.
Wine Train Vevey - Puidoux-Chexbres
The regional train linking Vevey to Puidoux-Chexbres is called “Wine Train”. It runs along a dream route: the terraced Lavaux vineyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site above Lake Geneva and opposite the Alps. It runs daily and once an hour along this breathtaking route.
At Chexbres-Village station, hikers are spoilt for choice: there are countless paths criss-crossing the slopes of the prestigious terraced vineyard. A didactic, marked footpath describes the history of the vineyard and its grape varieties.
We took the path from Chexbres to St. Saphorin.
