In this video, a full-scale SAG mill was modeled using the recently released fully coupled embedded SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic) and Discrete Element Method (DEM) in Rocky 22R2, which can be efficiently applied to accurately capture both particle and fluid dynamics in particle-laden flows.
SPH provides a particle-based method to model complex free-surface flows with good accuracy, and its explicit formulation makes it suitable for massive parallelization on GPU-accelerated solvers. Using Rocky's unique multi-GPU solver, real-scale applications can be modeled in a feasible time frame.
