Last month’s Federal Reserve monetary policy decision delivered a 25 basis point rate cut, as expected, but the Chair Jerome Powell was quick to point out a December cut was not a forgone conclusion. His emphasis on the amount of easing already sanctioned, as well as highlighting that the neutral rate might not be that far away, suggests caution over coming meetings. In absence of significant portions of US data and with question marks over its accuracy, will the Fed be able to cut in December?
