She is an internationally recognized expert on the values that underlie feminist activism, especially the activism of women of color and women in the global South. She is the author of three books, Faux Feminism: Why We Fall for White Feminism and How We Can Stop (Beacon 2024), Decolonizing Universalism: A Transnational Feminist Ethic (Oxford 2019), and Adaptive Preferences and Women’s Empowerment (Oxford 2011), as well as a number of academic articles. Her public-facing work has also been published in venues such as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The New Republic.
