Poetry Room at Margate Arts Club

Описание: Last year, on 14 September 2025, we took Poetry Room to Margate Arts Club, featuring two special acts: a live performance extract from Akila Richards’ Mango Ritual show with Adriana Lord & Liz Ikamba, and a guest appearance by poet and visual artist Kareem Parkins-Brown. His work concerns grime, grief and humour. His debut poetry pamphlet Oi You Lot is out now with Little Betty. The lineup also included: DJ Fever2Ray (African Night Fever), our MC Akila M. Richards and after-party DJ Derrick Patterson.

Poetry Room is our popular evening of poetry, music and conversation, which we have organised for years. We bring together the UK’s finest poets, thinkers, and musicians to provide a diverse chilled ambience as we consider the big issues for the African, Caribbean, Asian and Global Majority communities. With special guests, poets and artists, Poetry Room has grown beyond Sussex and is now on tour once or twice a year. Poetry Room is produced by Writing Our Legacy in partnership with African Night Fever. We started in 2019 at a small intimate coffeeshop called Africa House on the London Road, Brighton.
