Riviera Hotel & Casino Implosion in Las Vegas

Описание: Mike O'Brian and Carla Rea of The KKLZ Morning Show bid farewell to the iconic Riviera Hotel & Casino on Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 as the Monaco Tower was imploded in typical Las Vegas fashion.

Shortly after 2:30 am on Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 the plunger was pressed and an impressive fireworks display began to send the Riviera off into oblivion. VIP guests of the Visitor's Authority toasted the hotel during it's final countdown with champagne and once the final firework was lit, the entire building came down in an impressive implosion for the history books.

The casino, which opened in April of 1955 operated for just over 60 years until it was closed in May of 2015 when the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority purchased the property for $182.5 million. The implosion is the first part of two as the hotel's Monte Carlo tower will be imploded sometime in August 2016. Once the site is cleared, the LVCVA will begin construction of it's global business expansion which will include more convention space and other amenities.
