Further, Dr. Ankur explains the verdict of Subraminam Balaji case on Freebies and the current Ashwini Kumar Upadhayay Case on freebies pending before the Supreme Court. Lastly, the views of RBI, Election Commission, and Finance Commission on the issue are discussed.

The Prime Minister recently criticized the Revadi or Freebie culture in India. The Reserve Bank of India has raised concerns over impact of freebies on the financial health of states in India. Similar concerns have been raised by the Finance Commission. Further, the Election Commission of India has raised concerns on impact of freebies on elections. The Supreme Court is currently hearing the Ashwini Kumar Upadhayay case in relation to Freebies.
