What Is Strabismus? It is also known as hypertropia and crossed eyes — is misalignment of the eyes, causing one eye to deviate inward (esotropia) toward the nose, or outward (exotropia), while the other eye remains focused.

What is the main cause of strabismus?

Strabismus usually develops in infants and young children, most often by age 3. But older children and adults can also develop the condition. People often believe that a child with strabismus will outgrow the condition.

However, this is not true. In fact, strabismus may get worse without treatment and can even lead to amblyopia, a condition where one eye does not develop 20/20 vision like its counterpart!
