Notes/Lessons Learned
An impact gun fits well when removing and installing the caliper and caliper bracket on the front wheels, but there is no room for the impact gun when working on the rear brakes.
The brake kit comes with the small rubber piece to change out on the end of the caliper slide bolts (one rubber “washer” per wheel). I am not referring to the rubber boots. I am talking about the much smaller piece that goes on the end of the slide bolt (only one bolt per wheel has these). When I changed these on the front, they made the caliper slide bolts almost not slide at all. For this reason, I left the old ones on the rear. If I was doing it over again I would not have changed the ones on the front either.
The brake kit comes with new metal clips. I used the new clips on the front brakes and they fit well. When I did the rear brakes, the clips did not fit well at all so I cleaned and reused the original metal clips on the rear.
I'm not sure why I didn't apply brake lube to the metal clips before installing the caliper bracket. This would have been much easier.
In the Brake Caliper Kit, I used the “IV” and “8” discs on the front brakes and the “N” on the rear.
Once you install the caliper, DO NOT FORGET to remove the S-hook caliper hanging bracket.
Remember to reinstall the rubber cover on the brake bleeder.
