The J/Z line is one of the most scenic lines in the system, crossing the Williamsburg Bridge and then weaving above diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, much like in Chicago. The summer is the best time to ride it because it primarily uses R32 trains, which are 50 years old and still have completely unobstructed views from the front-end storm doors. The rest of the year, along with a few sets of R42s the main rolling stock is the R160, which still has a view from the passenger area but is partly limited.
Here, I ride from Broad Street in the Financial District all the way to Parsons/Archer at Jamaica Center, in slightly less than an hour. I shut off the camera at most stops to save memory on my devices. You'll hear me reading the chaining numbers on the signals upon leaving each station, mainly so I can calculate the average speed of the journey (why I was using my stopwatch). From Canal to Halsey, a young boy stood next to me and what you're hearing is my conversation with him, pointing out what could be interesting. After Broadway Junction, the train became seriously packed but a significant portion got off at Crescent Street. I wonder if there's some landmark there, or many bus connections.
