A close ally of Sir Keir Starmer trousered a share of an eye-watering £8million for his role in negotiating Britain’s controversial Chagos Islands “giveaway”, the Daily Mail can reveal.
Philippe Sands KC pocketed his slice of the multimillion-pound pot while serving as chief legal adviser to Mauritius from 2010 to 2024.
During that period, Sands helped steer through the explosive agreement that will see the UK hand sovereignty of the strategically vital archipelago to Mauritius.
