To change the filter in a fuel dispenser at a gas station, you will need the following:
A new fuel filter
A filter wrench
A bucket
Absorbent rag
Goggles
Gloves
Grease for filter
Sharpie
Once you have gathered your supplies, you can follow these steps to change the filter:
Turn off the power to the fuel dispenser at the breaker box or E Stop.
Lockout breaker.
Close the shear valve.
Use the filter wrench to remove the old filter.
Allow the fuel to drain into the bucket.
Put the old filter in a trash bag.
Apply a thin coat of fuel filter grease to the gasket on the new filter.
Screw the new filter on by hand.
Tighten the filter with the wrench.
Open the Shear Valve.
Turn on the power to the fuel dispenser.
Test the dispenser to make sure it is working properly.
Dispose of old filters properly.
It is important to note that changing the filter in a fuel dispenser can be dangerous. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, you should hire a qualified technician to do it for you.
Here are some safety tips to keep in mind when changing a fuel filter:
Always wear goggles and gloves when working with fuel.
Make sure the area is well-ventilated.
Do not smoke or use any open flames near the fuel.
Be careful not to overtighten the filter.
Dispose of the old filter properly.
