This easy adventure takes you out to the spectacular clifftop views that Baal Bone trek is famous for. The track winds its way through scenic bushland before opening up to sweeping vistas that will leave you in awe.

We stopped for lunch at the Baal Bone Gap picnic area, the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and soak in the scenery before heading further along the track. There are even opportunities to camp along the way if you’d like to turn this into an overnight escape.

Along the way, there’s also a more challenging optional section called "Bullen Climb" that we’ll show you in the video. It’s not mandatory as part of the trek itself, but for those wanting to test their 4WD skills, it’s a great add-on to the start or end of the trip. Keep in mind also, taking the "Bullen Climb", there are multiple "lines" you can take up and down, we got some serious wheel lift and used the front of the car as a grader. Pick a line that works for you and your vehicle.

The best part? The road is in very good condition now, and in dry weather it can even be suitable for AWD vehicles – making this a fantastic option for anyone looking to experience a real adventure without tackling anything too extreme.

Located just a short distance from Lithgow, this trek can be enjoyed as a day trip or extended into a weekend escape with camping along the way.

If you’re after a trip that combines ease, beauty, and adventure, the Baal Bone 4WD trek is a must-do. Don’t forget to bring your camera – those clifftop lookouts are unforgettable!

Keep in mind, we did this trek in fairly dry conditions; after rain, it can turn an easy trek into a very challenging adventure, including even more bog holes and slipperier tracks and hills. Plan your trip according to the weather, both the forecast and what has happened in the last week.
