Recorded during rehearsals for MGM's 1972 Golden Globe winning movie/documentary Elvis - On Tour. This version was originally released officially in 2004 by Sony on their Elvis collectors label Follow That Dream on the album Elvis On Tour - The Rehearsals. However, that version only included the full run and had the prior rehearsal parts edited out. The 2022/23 Elvis - On Tour box set gave a more complete version, but still a portion was missing from the beginning.
Here that rehearsal version is included in it’s complete form using the audio from Sony’s new set with the missing portion taken from Amiga’s magnificent unofficial set Elvis - On Tour (Deluxe Edition).
Whilst rehearsing in RCA's Hollywood studios with the both the oncoming tour, starting in Buffalo, NY on 5 April, and movie which would be filmed during that tour in mind, Elvis and the band were in a serious, professional mood as they ran through the set list.
Suddenly what began as purely a mess around with Elvis unsure of the lyrics, develops into a gorgeous full run through, which even though it is not quite at the same level will still stand up well in comparison to the 1957 original. This 1972 version, with Elvis' fuller 1970's voice suiting the song perfectly, and it becomes a real treat.


As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
