🚶‍♂️ Walking in Dumaguete City – Episode 1: Real Street Adventure 🚶‍♀️

Welcome to my brand-new video series “Walking in Dumaguete City”!
This time, I’ve put the GoPro aside – no more fish-eye wobble – and instead, I take you right into daily life: the streets, the neighborhoods, the barangays… and yes, the people who make Dumaguete so colorful.

In this first episode, we stroll down the busy Real Street, from Santa Rosa Street all the way to Silliman Avenue. Along the way, we bump into:

🍰 Two young ladies decorating a bakery window with cakes that look almost too pretty to eat (almost).
🐟 A proud pedicab passenger showing off her freshly bought yellowfin tuna – strapped in like a VIP.
🥧 A torta delivery that looks more like weightlifting training.
🪓 An older woman on a serious mission: finding the perfect sickle.
🧹 A broom salesman from Bacolod – he eats his breakfast on the street while explaining how he sweeps the entire province clean.
🚑 Ambulances weaving through traffic, proving once again they’re the only “express lanes” Dumaguete really has.
🥖 And, of course, the irresistible smell of fresh hot pandesal waiting just across the street.

The walk ends at the three-star Hotel Essencia, a great starting point for exploring downtown Dumaguete: the public market, Silliman University, Lee Plaza, the harbor, and Rizal Boulevard are all just a stone’s throw away.

But the story doesn’t end there – on my way back I sneak into a side street and make my way back to the market, sit down at the Painitan, sip native coffee, munch on a roll with fried egg, and enjoy the market’s wonderful chaos.
