Bolt Action 3rd Edition: Operation Switchback Canadians v Germans

Описание: This week we would play a historic battle that took place in Europe on the 6th October 1944.

This battle saw the Canadian Scottish 3rd Infantry Division 7th Brigade cross the Leopold canal on the Belgium Dutch border. The German 64th Division will try to stop them crossing. The canal is a natural obstacle as the Allies want to attack north to clear the Germans from the south bank of the Scheldt estuary, which leads to Antwerp. The British have Antwerp, but can't use the port while the Germans have the South bank of the Scheldt.

The attack is called Operation Switchback and the Canadians use Wasps to flame across the canal before crossing using boats and a Kapoch Bridge. Which is a floating type of pontoon. The attack starts at dawn, so use the dawn rules with 1000 point armies. Tanks can't cross the canal, but starts firing over intermiitent banks on both sides of the canal. The bailey was built after the battle.

There is a farm settlement named Oosthoek, which has a stone farm house and some outbuildings with fences, but no other cover. The Germans had set up squads on the North bank and units of MG's and arty cover them. These squads have hard cover.
