Britain’s Grid Hotspots for Solar Storm Damage Just Got Exposed

Описание: New data shows that during a severe solar storm, electric fields can surge through the ground across Britain. In some areas, those fields reach up to 12 volts per kilometer.

That level of underground current can damage transformers, scramble rail signals, and break pipeline protection systems.

Central and northern England, north west Wales, and parts of Scotland are now identified as high-risk zones. These areas contain critical infrastructure but were never treated as the most exposed.

The study uses real geological data from 70 sites across Britain to reveal where the danger is concentrated.
