Grey College in Spain | NextGen Global Schools Challenge

GIC is a proud supporter of several of South Africa's leading rugby schools, including Grey College, located in Bloemfontein in heart of South Africa.

In December, Grey College sent a team to the latest NextGen Global Schools Challenge, which was hosted in December 2025 in Salou, Spain.

The Grey, joined by fellow GIC-partner schools Grey High School and Hoër Landbouskool Oakdale from South Africa, finished the round-robin phase undefeated. While the team from City of Roses were beaten by Ireland's Presentation Brothers College in the final (which fielded five players called up the Ireland U18 squad), Grey College represented their school and country with distinction while in Spain.

Competition in new and unfamiliar environments builds resilience and teamwork, and provides valuable life experience that goes beyond the field. Congratulations to all schools that competed, with the 2026 school rugby season set to be the latest chaper in South Africa's school rugby story.
