The Digital Hub has linked up with a local Dublin school to harness the power of technology in the classroom and in the community. The Schools Broadband Exemplar Project is helping Presentation Secondary School Warrenmount to enhance the learning experience for students and to support the technology needs of the local community.

Warrenmount already has a 100MB broadband connection, but technology alone does not create digitally empowered citizens. The Digital Hub is working closely with 14 teachers at the school - in subject areas such as maths, science and French - giving them the technical assistance, resources and support they need to become IT champions in the classroom.

Over 200 lesson plans and resources are being adapted for use with technology in the classroom. In addition, a virtual learning environment is under development, where teachers and students can access school materials outside the classroom.

The Digital Hub is working with a number of partners on these projects, including Microsoft Ireland, TeachNet Ireland, Cisco, eircom, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Prim-Ed, DERI and Trinity College Dublin.
