Testing Accuracy on an Old $500 Windham Weaponry AR15 Barrel; Load Development w 50g Bullets, A-2460

Описание: This video is going to be a batch of accuracy testing/load development on an old barrel with over 3000 rounds put through the barrel. This test will be using 50g polymer-tipped bullets, Accurate 2460 powder, IWI 5.56 brass, and CCI #400 small rifle primers. Test will be performed by firing 10 5-shot groups at 100 yards.

This rifle was originally a Windham Weaponry SRC model, which was a polymer framed AR15 that I bought for $500 back when the price of AR15s still was still fairly high. So, it was one of the cheapest ARs available at the time. That’s one of the main reasons I bought it (more money for ammo). Most of the rifle has been replaced by this point in time, but it was for reasons of preference, not defects of the original rifle. I will post the some of the main components that this rifle is composed of below for those interested.

Barrel: Windham Weaponry SRC “pull off” 1:9 twist 16” carbine barrel
Gas Block: Yankee Hill low-profile clamp-on
Bolt/BCG: Fail-Zero Nickel Boron BCG 5.56 bolt face
Handguard: UTG Pro
Receiver Set: Anderson
Stock: Magpul MOE carbine mil-spec
Trigger: Larue MBT-2S

This barrel used to be able to shoot sub-moa (less than one inch) five shot groups at 100 yards on a regular basis using 55g V-max bullets and 75g BTHP (boat tail hollow point) bullets, and it is a 1:9 twist barrel. So, for the twist rate, the barrel shoots a surprisingly broad span of bullet weights very accurately. However, it should shoot the light bullets better, so we will shoot the lightest bullet we have shot through the barrel on this video to see how they do.

I have never used Accurate 2460 powder, IWI brass, or these particular bullets for accuracy testing before. So, all of this is going to be new to me for the most part in terms of components. For those interested in the exact loads concocted for this video. Please refer to the data below.
