One of this year's exciting news is that we are launching JOIN THE MUSIC MOVEMENT, a unique concert concept and an exciting venue for groups that want make their own appearance in Side by Side by El Sistema!

This concert venue is onboard Gothenburg's new electric bus, No. 55, that goes from Chalmers to Lindholmen and back again. It will be a fun, exciting and different experience for participating young musicians and for those passengers who happen to be on the bus. A memory for life.

Side by Side by El Sistema is a part of the long run preparation and celebration of Gothenburg’s 400-year anniversary in 2021. Children and young people from all over the world meet each year to sing, play and learn with loads of fun. Our goal is to unite 30,000 participants through Side by Side by El Sistema in 2021 and create the world’s largest music youth camp.

From 2016 and onwards the camp is organized by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in close collaboration with the foundation El Sistema Sweden. El Sistema is a program created in 1975 by economist and musician José Antonio Abreu in Venezuela with the vision that music can help to develop and create positive social change in children´s life. El Sistema is part of the social mobilization that is essential in places where segregation has limited the opportunities for human development.
