Subtopia Pier 14, Central Station Amsterdam

Описание: Subtopia was a underground boat club in the early 1990’s at Pier 14 behind the Central Station of Amsterdam. Open from the opening time until the last visitors left. To got in you needed to climb down a steep ladder. A rusty old boat that was not waterproof. If it rained outside the rust was dripping. A stain that was nearly impossible to remove. Regular DJ’s were Jeroen Flamman, Abraxas and Gino with many international visitors. Sander and Natarcia behind the entree, Vlad and Stanley were the ‘bouncers’. And I, XLR-8 was the ‘coat guy’. The bare minimum of light and a minibar. Two toilets which were typical at the least, left was intended for guys and the right side one for girls, but hey.. Music in Subtopia was House only, uptempo. At that time there were only a handfull of clubs that dare to play House, RoXY, It! in Amsterdam, Stalker in Haarlem and Ekko in Utrecht to name a few.

This video footage is pulled from the original VHS, which I still have, which was given to me after the event. Camera Video8 by Kamiel. First conversion from this original VHS to VOB was made 20 years ago in 2005 by my friend MSQ. In January 2026 the original footage of this VHS was converted by MSQ to a modern video format.
