Lawyers for the government ignored the order, insisting that they did not realize it was valid because it had been issued verbally. More than 250 immigrants, who Trump says are Tren de Aragua gang members, are currently being held in a notorious prison camp in El Salvador.

Last weekend, the White House announced that Trump signed what the White House described as a “Proclamation Invoking the Alien Enemies Act regarding the Invasion of the United States by the Foreign Terrorist Organization Tren De Aragua,” which was used as the rationale for deportation flights that were halted by federal District Court Judge James Boasberg.

This was just days before Trump baselessly raged on social media that President Joe Biden’s pardons are “VOID” by claiming they were signed by “autopen” without Biden’s knowledge.
