Quetzalcoatl’s perilous journey to Mictlan overcame countless challenges to retrieve these sacred bones. To maintain cosmic balance, the Aztecs offered blood sacrifices to nourish the gods and sustain the sun. They embraced a worldview of cyclical eras, each destined to end in destruction, only to give rise to renewal and hope.
