With 40 percent of people walking into a store admitting they have no intention of buying anything in that store, retailers need to find a reason to attract consumers other than by providing customer service or the opportunity to buy something immediately. Even that, Lunn says, is becoming increasingly unnecessary, pointing to Ebay as an example of being able to order an item online and then pick it up in store.
