This guy is another tricky beast, no matter how strong you are there is absolutely no way you can brute force this fight.
The only way to actually wound the boss is by hitting the correct flame, and an easy way to do this is by using a full screen attack-- the flame that doesn't counter is the one that you must hit, but be prepared with Red Mails or Ruby Armors because you'll take some heavy Fire hits from the boss.
Note: You can get Ruby Armors in the Prehistoric Age and get Red Mail/Plates from the Zeal Chests in 1000/600 AD (use the pendant in 600 and open it in 1000 - NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND). A third Fire Absorbing armor can be charmed from Rust Tyranno in 600 AD as well.
