Reference: L1
Normative Values: 0-25 degrees
*Foundational Concept: Anatomical landmarks for all thoracic and lumbar spine range of motion measurements with an inclinometer/compass is one segment above and one segment below. For thoracic spine ROM measurements that means C7 & L1.
*One inclinometer may be used for the “Dual Inclinometer Method” if one important assumption is met. Assumption: Both the Indicator and Reference zero positions on the compass/inclinometers are identical. If zero positions are different (i.e. scoliosis, segmental dysfunction, etc.) then 2 different inclinometers must be used.
