In 2020, Ivor commissioned the most comprehensive survey of Africa’s youth to date, the African Youth Survey. Since its inception, the Survey has covered 19 African countries and interviewed almost 10,000 youth. The purpose of this annual study is to give Africa’s youth a powerful voice by articulating their hopes, aspirations, and challenges among key stakeholders, including governments, investors, educators, innovators, corporates, NGOs, and the business community. The Ichikowitz Family Foundation has also been active in the war against poaching which has been decimating Africa’s natural resources.
Ichikowitz, who was an activist in the struggle against apartheid, experienced the challenges of a country in transition first-hand. He understands all too well the rigor and vigilance needed and the stability essential for developing nations – particularly African societies – to unlock their own potential and thrive for all who live in them. Through this panel, we reflect on Ivor's life's work and discuss with him Youth's potential in today's politics.
