How I turn a 2D image into a 3D stamp for custom pottery logos

Описание: Turn a 2d logo into a 3d stamp

1. Inkscape - save 2d image as a SVG
⁃ open Inkscape
⁃ Open desired image
⁃ Select image
⁃ Click the path tab up top, and select trace bitmap
⁃ Choose which style works for your image (brightness cutoff or edge detection, etc)
⁃ Click apply
⁃ Drag tracing to the side and select the original and hit delete.
⁃ Move tracing back to the center
⁃ Save file as SVG
2. Blender - turn SVG into 3d file
⁃ open Blender
⁃ Delete the cube, light, etc.
⁃ File , import, SVG, select the file you just saved
⁃ Scroll in to see image
⁃ Select it by clicking it
⁃ Type “r” on the keyboard, type “x” on the keyboard, type “90” on the keypad, hit enter
⁃ Type “3” on the keypad
⁃ Select image by clicking
⁃ Right click image “convert to” “mesh”
⁃ Change from object mode to edit mode
⁃ Type “A” type “E”, drag mouse to the right or hit right arrow to extrude. Don’t need too much depth
⁃ Enter
⁃ Change back to object mode
⁃ Type “R” type “X” type “-90” enter
⁃ Use move tool to bring it above the green plane, center over dot
⁃ Select cube tool and add cube
⁃ Check the different views by typing “3” and “7” and “1”.
⁃ If the cube needs to be scaled, type “s” “x” for x axis or “s” “y” for y axis and drag to the right to expand
⁃ The cube should slightly overlap the image
⁃ Type 3 on the keypad
⁃ Select the black part of the image
⁃ Select the wrench tab on the right
⁃ Click add modifier, generate, Boolean, select union, and select “cube” from the dropdown
⁃ Save file
⁃ Export as an STL
3. Ultimates Cura - slice program
⁃ open the STL file
⁃ Scale it to the size you need
⁃ Flip the file horizontally so it’s backwards
⁃ Slice
⁃ Preview to ensure everything will print correctly
⁃ Save to the SD card
4. Print your new stamp 😊
