Bronco Bestop Sunrider 4-door problem: RATTLES and cause!

Following the installation instructions for the Bestop Sunrider on a 2024 4 door Bronco results in a rattle near one of the brackets. The reason for the rattle is that the supplied washer to be inserted between the bracket and hard-top plate has too small of a diameter. The washer floats within the opening without being clamped. Any vibration to the vehicle will cause the washer to rattle.
The two-door Bronco Sunrider does not appear to have this step in their instruction guide, so I don't think the same issue is present in that configuration.
Maybe Ford enlarged the hard-top strike plate opening for 2024?
What is the purpose of the washer and should I omit it altogether or replace it with one with a larger diameter?
