This video sets the stage for a playthrough of the battle using Wargame Design Studio's Wellington's Peninsular War game from the Napoleonic Battles Series originally designed by John Tiller.
TheBattle of Alcañiz occurred near a town in northeastern Spain as part of the broader Peninsular War.
The confrontation pitted Major-General Louis Gabriel Suchet’s French forces against General Joaquín Blake y Joyes’s Spanish army, with both sides fielding roughly equal numbers: about 8,000 French troops versus 9,000 Spaniards, including all arms.
The battle was a Spanish victory but had limited long term effect.
