In this episode of Spin AT Lightspeed I take Thomas (then 6) out overnight for the first time with a carer. The carer (Aaron) brought his daughter Harper who Tom has known most of his life.
We headed off from Canterbury on the fast train to London St Pancras and then had a few troubles getting the connecting train to Leicester , the first one I couldn't get my Power Wheelchair (A Magic Mobility Frontier V6) down the corridor of the train , we had to switch to a slightly later train and for the inconvenience were upgraded to first class.
Once in Leicester (it was a 2 hour train journey) we then got a wheelchair accessible Taxi (there were loads waiting at the train station) and headed off to the National Space Centre. Tom had been studying the moon landings at school and was super excited.

After spending hours in the museum we got another taxi to the Holiday Inn (situated next to the main football stadium). The next morning we headed off on a trek across Leicester to find the Leicester Museum and Art Gallery - https://www.leicestermuseums.org
They had a dinosaur exhibit and we saw Dippy the diplodocus who has been on a tour of the UK. There was also a rainforest exhibition in the museum and after a quick lunch we headed back to the train station to jump on a train back to London.
We arrived home mid afternoon and all in all it was a very successful trip.
The Holiday Inn offered a free interconnecting carers room and the disabled room had a full wet room , I took a portable commode with me (Made by Oyster) which was strapped to the back of my chair to make travelling easier.
