Hi, everyone my name is 吳宜淋. I study for a master's in the biomedical engineering department. This semester, I have an EMI course which is biomedical engineering. In the beginning, I was afraid of speaking English to discuss the topics. But it got better when I plucked up my courage to talk. After this class, I have more confidence to talk with foreigners. A few weeks ago, I just participated in an English speech competition. For me, this is a great step forward for English expression ability. What’s more, I take part in the Conversation Buddy program which is to facilitate communication between international and local students. We get together once per month. We talk about different issues like food culture, religion, and traditional clothes. Meeting people of other languages and cultures makes me more accepting. I accept all of these differences and appreciate them. My mind broadens for people with different thinking. Also, because of this class, I make new and amazing friends who are Pakistani and Vietnamese. We ate out at a great dumpling shop and had bubble milk tea. That was the girl’s first time tasting the food. And we went to Beigang Choatian temple and 馬鳴山鎮安temple. I introduced the history of these buildings and gods to the Pakistani, which is really a special experience in sharing my religious culture with foreigners. That trip brought back so many happy memories. I love the EMI course. It makes me more confident and lets me make fantastic friends.
