This is a new type of show for the channel. Our guest historian will examine a popular claim made about the Second World War and either confirm or debunk it. There probably won't be time for questions from viewers but we hope the shorter length will be popular.

Twelve O'Clock High has been lauded for its historical accuracy and examination of the air war.
A closer look at the film and the history of the 306th Bomb Group, which it is based on forces us to examine an uncomfortable part of history, film, and memory. A better analysis of the film is that it was an accurate representation of the Eighth Air Force’s perspective of the events that occurred with the 306th Bomb Group in late 1942, but not the whole truth.

Dr. Luke Truxal is an American military historian who focuses on the application of American air power during the Second World War. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Texas in 2011 and 2018. His teaching fields include Europe in the twentieth century, United States history, United States military history, and United States political history in the twentieth century.
