기존의 계절 독감과는 달리 어린이와 청소년층에서 높은 발병률을 보였으며,
이로 인해 전국적으로 학교에 휴교령이 내려지는 초유의 사태가 발생했습니다.

마스크와 치료제인 타미플루 품귀 현상까지 발생하는 등 우리의 일상에는 급격한 변화가 찾아왔습니다.

특히 당시 정부는 감염 확산을 막기 위해 전국의 병원을 신종플루 치료 거점병원로 지정하고,
일반 환자와 격리된 별도의 진료 공간과 병동을 마련하는 비상 체제에 돌입했습니다.

그리고 중소 병원들은 감염 위험과 일반 환자 감소를 우려하면서도
국가적인 방역망을 유지하기 위해 고군분투했습니다.

질병관리청은 10월 17일 0시를 기준으로 독감 유행 주의보를 발령했습니다.

정부가 감염 고위험군인 어린이와 임산부, 만 65세 이상 어르신을 대상으로 무료 독감 예방접종 사업을
실시하고 있다는 것을 아시나요?

주소 관계없이 신분증을 지참하고 가까운 위탁의료기관이나 보건소를 방문하시면 됩니다.

In 2009, South Korea was struck by the outbreak of the novel influenza A (H1N1),
commonly known as the “swine flu.”

Unlike the typical seasonal flu, this new strain showed a particularly high infection rate
among children and teenagers, leading to an unprecedented nationwide shutdown of schools.

The sudden surge in demand for masks and the antiviral drug Tamiflu
brought noticeable changes to daily life.

To contain the spread, the government designated hospitals across the country
as H1N1 treatment centers, setting up separate wards and isolated areas for infected patients,
a full-scale emergency response.

Meanwhile, smaller hospitals, despite concerns about infection risks and a decrease
in regular patients, worked tirelessly to help maintain the national quarantine system.

As of October 17, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) has issued
a nationwide influenza advisory.
