Castle Combe in the Cotswolds is a picturesque village that is often referred to as the prettiest village in England. Nestled in a valley in the north of Wiltshire, it is framed by the Cotswold Hills, giving it an unspoiled and tranquil beauty. The name Combe, or cwm in Welsh, is derived from the Celtic word meaning “valley” and has been preserved in the village’s unique architecture. The village is made up of gorgeous buildings made of Cotswold stone, including an old Gothic church and a tithe barn. The main street of the village is lined with traditional pubs and tea shops that serve local Cotswold fare, inviting visitors to sit back and relax the afternoon away. The nearby woodland is full of paths that are perfect for a leisurely country walk, and with plenty to explore in the area, Castle Combe is a great destination to get away from it all.
