I started writing “The River” in 2007.
I thought I was just writing a song.
I didn’t realize I was writing my future life.

Back then, I had just a verse and a chorus…
But I couldn’t finish it.Because I hadn’t fully lived life yet.

The bridge didn’t come until this spring.
After 17 more years.
After the breaking.
After the rebuilding.
After I finally understood what it means to let go…so you can find yourself again.

Some songs take a day.This one took 17 years to write.

This is one of the most honest songs I’ve ever written.

It’s been a heck of a winter here in New England. ❄️ The kind that changes you forever. I know many of you felt the power of this winter too. ❄️
This song takes me back to Southern Vermont, near Brattleboro, where I met the River of my Dao — in the wild, rushing waters near my teacher Thea Elijah’s home. That’s where I learned to trust the pull of my own heart as my compass and inner plumb line. And even now, stepping into the unknown, I trust The River is carrying me exactly where I’m meant to go. 🌊✨
