On an autumn trip to Durham, North Carolina, I stopped to check out a little bit of Carolina history at the Duke Homestead State Historic Site and Tobacco Museum. There was a lot to learn about Carolina's historic relationship with tobacco farming. While the demand for tobacco has decreased in recent years, North Carolina remains the leading tobacco producing state in the country, producing about 60% of the nation's total tobacco crop annually. These days, most of the tobacco grown in North Carolina goes overseas with China being its biggest customer. We learn about how it has been grown in North Carolina over the years - and about the Duke family whose empire once sat atop the worldwide tobacco industry. Thanks for watching!
