Описание: Animation of an edge dislocation passing through a simple cubic lattice. The atomic positions are based on an analytical calculation of the elastic displacements around an edge dislocation. This is not very realistic because the behavior near the dislocation core doesn't follow linear elasticity, but it is probably more realistic than most animations you find on the internet, which seem to be mostly cartoons based only on the author's imagination.
