In the period of Pitru Paksha, it is believed that our ancestors (Pitras) are present on Earth in some form. Have you ever wondered how the food and water offered during Shradh rituals reach them? According to the Garuda Purana, there are two divine ancestors named Vishwadeva and Agnishwat. When the name and Gotra of the ancestor are chanted during Shradh, these divine beings ensure that the offerings reach the Pitras. The form in which they receive it depends on their current form of existence. If they have taken a divine form, the offerings reach them as nectar. If in the form of demons, they receive it as meat; if in ghostly form, they get it as blood, and if in animal form, they receive it as grass.
