The Low Iron Low Thyroid Connection

Описание: If you have hypothyroidism you should be aware of the connection between low thyroid states and iron absorption. In low thyroid states, iron absorption is compromised which means you are at higher risk for developing iron deficiency. And because iron is required for thyroid hormone function, iron deficiency negatively impacts thyroid function. This vicious cycle continues on and on until you break it. If you have hypothyroidism make sure you test your iron level! You can do this by testing for ferritin, serum iron, TIBC, and % saturation. If you find that your iron level is low, make sure to replace it.
