I started craving for some kerala style chilly fish curry. So let’s make this mouth watering fish curry.
.
Recipe:-
1. Soak 3-4 pods of malabar tamarind in hot water.Heat coconut oil in a thick bottom pan, preferable clay pot.
2. Add 2 table spoons of chopped ginger and garlic.
3. Fry till light golden brown.
4. Grind together 5-6 shallots, 4-5 table spoon kashmiri chilly powder, 1 table spoon coriander powder and 1 tsp turmeric powder with little water ans make a fine paste.
5. Add the ground paste and wash the grinder jar using some water. Add the water too. Heat till water is evaporated.
6. Add 1/2 tomato ground and made into paste. Boil till oil is seen outside. This is very important.
7. Add the soaked tamarind and its water. Boil for 5 mins.
8. Add water and salt. Boil.
9. Add the fish pieces (I used 500 grams of tuna). You can use any hard flesh fish. The fish pieces should be dully submerged in water. Cook on high flame.Turn off the flame after 15 mons or when the fish is cooked.
10. Heat coconut oil in a kadai. Splutter mustard and fenugreek seeds. Add 2 sliced shallots, 4-5 dry red chillies and curry leaves. Fry till shallots are golden brown. Turn off the flame and add a teaspoon of chilly powder. Add it to the curry when the raw smell of chilly powder is gone.
11. Boil it intermittently for 1 or 2 days and use after that.
