🧅 Vegetable Base (Soffritto Style)
In the same pan:
Sauté 1 chopped onion and 3 garlic cloves until fragrant.
Add:
1 chopped carrot
1 chopped red bell pepper
Chopped chives (for a fresh touch)
Stir to incorporate flavors and soften vegetables.
🍅 Sauce Construction
Add to skillet:
1¼ cups tomato sauce
1¼ cups beef broth
1¼ cups red wine (Chianti or dry red works great)
Season with:
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp sweet paprika
1 tsp dried oregano
Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
🍲 Oven Braising
Pour sauce over meat in a baking dish.
Cover tightly with aluminum foil to trap steam.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 2 hours.
🌿 Finishing Touch
Garnish with fresh parsley (optional but recommended).
Serve hot with polenta, mashed potatoes, or crusty bread.
