World Bank pledges historic $100 billion to support the poorest nations | DD India

Описание: The World Bank has pledged a historic $100 billion to support the world’s poorest countries, with donor nations committing nearly $24 billion to replenish its concessional lending arm, the International Development Association (IDA). This funding will help address critical issues such as the economic aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change adaptation in 78 of the poorest nations. By leveraging these funds, the World Bank can borrow from financial markets, effectively increasing its lending capacity fourfold. This initiative represents a significant boost in resources, increasing its total support from $93 billion in 2021. The announcement follows two days of discussions in Seoul, South Korea.
